Description
The Colombian myth of La Madremonte tells the story of a guardian spirit of the forests, jungles, and wildlife. She was known to pursue hunters, loggers, and fishermen, and was believed to have power over the weather and vegetation. Her origins trace back to ancient South American indigenous deities that embody Mother Earth.
The design features a dark-skinned woman inspired by indigenous heritage, her skin adorned with tribal-style animal motifs. She is surrounded by flowers, plants, jaguars, and ibis birds. The text within the piece references the original legend, with the word “man” intentionally replaced by “human.”
